Hotel Access and Parking during Cogswell District Project

An exciting redevelopment of the north end of downtown has temporarily changed the hotel’s main entrance for those arriving and visiting via vehicle. If you are not arriving via vehicle, the existing sidewalk entrance at 1875 Barrington Street is available for foot traffic access (taxi, limo and other services will drop you in close proximity to this entrance).

If you are arriving via vehicle at check-in or throughout your stay and need to park for up to 20 minutes, you will need to enter on Granville Street level (1919 Upper Water Street). It is about a 120 (400 feet) meter walk to the Granville Street entrance, and you can access the lobby via elevator or stairs. Please see below for full instructions. 

We strongly encourage guests parking overnight to park prior to checking in as the closest parkade is an additional 150 to 200 metre walk (500 – 750 feet depending where you park) to return to the hotel.

Scotia Square Parkade and hotel access from parkade (Vehicles 179CM / 5'11" and under)

The nearest parkade is the Scotia Square Parkade, situated at 1901 Albemarle Street, Halifax, NS, B3J 3L9. Parking rates are calculated on an hourly basis at $4.50 per hour, with a weekday maximum of $26 plus HST (Monday to Thursday) and a reduced rate of $24 plus HST on weekends (Friday to Sunday). Guests have the option to bring their parking ticket to the front desk for validation at the same cost ($26 plus HST on weekdays or $24 plus HST on weekends), granting unlimited in-and-out privileges within a 24-hour period. Please note that ticket validation for unlimited access must be processed exclusively at the Front Desk, as the parking gates will default to charging hourly rates or the daily maximum upon each entry or exit.

Vehicles 179CM (5 Foot, 11 Inches) and under, can enter in the first entrance on Albemarle Street (Green Entrance). See below for oversize.

After parking, take the elevators to level P1, turn right and follow the indoor walkway (To Barrington Hotel / Purdy’s Wharf). You will pass a Tim Hortons, go up a small set of stairs (ramp available), then cross an indoor bridge where you come to an escalator. Immediately to the right of the escalators is an elevator which you can take to Level B, turn right and the lobby is at the end of the hall (right hand side, glass doors). If you use the escalators, at the bottom, make a left hand U turn and follow the long hallway (walking past the RBC ATM) until you reach the lobby entrance (right hand side, glass doors).

 

Vehicles Over 180CM / 6 Feet

If your vehicle is over 180CM / 6’0”, there are a limited number of spaces (approximately 70) available in the North Parkade’s entrance (the last entrance on Albemarle Street) and only on level P3 (entrance you enter on). You then take the elevators to P1, cross through the food court, and turn left at Tim Hortons (will match photo view above). Then follow the walking instructions above.

Temporary Hotel Access Parking

Temporary parking is available (20 minutes or less) to access the lobby, though we advise that you follow instructions for the Scotia Square Parkade prior to checking in.

 

Follow to 1950 Upper Water Street and turn onto a concrete/gravel road (construction area, not office towers or the Marriott) that connects with an asphalt road. Park directly next to the Barrington Place receiving bay. Using the walkway on the left, follow along the brick street (Granville) until you reach the Granville entrance (past the Goodlife Fitness). Through these doors you can either access the lobby via the staircase or use the intercom system to be given access to the meeting room area (glass doors) elevators.
